CAPE TOWN - KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi says he does not have the resources to provide private protection for his family during this time.
The commissioner has trusted the safety of his loved ones to the South African Police Service.

Mkhwanazi, appeared before parliament's ad hoc committee probing allegations of police interference and corruption within the criminal justice system on Wednesday and answered questions about the safety of his family.
ANC MP Xola Nqola asked whether Mkhwanazi's family was being threatened and if they had enough protection.
Mkhwanazi said that the safety of his family is like any other South African.
There has been no special provision for their protection.
