Namibia's late president Geingob buried at Heroes Acre

WINDHOEK - Late Namibian President Hage Geingob has been described as a nation-builder and pan-African hero.

The 82-year-old was buried on Sunday after three weeks of mourning.

His funeral was attended by almost 20 former African heads of state.

They included founding Namibian President Sam Nujoma and his successor Hifikepunye Pohamba.

President Cyril Ramaphosa and the German President also attended the funeral in Windhoek.

Geingob held several senior positions in government and his party, Swapo.

He also chaired the body that drafted Namibia's constitution, which is considered a model of good governance.

Geingob died in hospital earlier this month, just weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer.

He had just returned from receiving treatment in the US.
