JOHANNESBURG - The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure has condemned the spreading of fake news regarding an imminent terror attack in South Africa.

On Wednesday, the US embassy issued an alert for a possible terror attack in Sandton, Johannesburg this weekend.

However, NatJoints, which comprises various government departments, and is led by State Security Agency, SAPS, and the SANDF, has poured cold water on these alerts.

Officials say this weekend’s events call for heightened police visibility, roadblocks, and search-and-seizure operations.
