New tankers to quench eThekwini’s thirst

DURBAN - eThekwini residents' thirst may be quenched soon.

The metro has bought 55 new tankers to respond to the ongoing water crisis in the city.

Areas such as Umlazi, Ntuzuma and Inanda sometimes go dry for months.

Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda has promised that service delivery will improve with the purchase.

But residents have raised various issues with water tankers.

Some allege that drivers sell the water, while the municipality says resources such as diesel are sometimes stolen.
