Nine Police Officers Arrested for Murder

FREE STATE - IPID has arrested nine police officers from the Bultfontein Public Order Policing Unit in the Free State for murder.

IPID said 43 empty cartridge cases were found at the police scene.

The officers are due to appear in court on four counts of murder, for the killing of three civilians and one of their own, Constable Mojalefa Borole.

The incident took place in September 2024 in Phahameng township, where officers responded to a domestic dispute. 

"Public Order Police members responded to a call of a domestic dispute in Phahameng township, Bultfontein in the Free State, where family members were allegedly involved in a fight. It is further alleged that as police officers tried to apprehend them, they locked themselves inside the house and barricaded all access points into the house," IPID's Lizzy Supind.

The suspects will appear in the Bultfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
