JOHANNESBURG - The National Lotteries Commission appeared before the Portfolio Committee to answer questions about the process to award the lottery licence, as well as, explain if there are any conflicts of interest.

Following a controversial 12-month extension given to lottery operator Ithuba, Sizekhaya Holdings will take over next year.
That contract is also under scrutiny, with government said to be considering moving the lottery in-house.
But the National Lotteries Commission is concerned about government's competence to administrate a state-run lottery.
