No frustration justifies taking a life - SAPS

MOSSEL BAY - Acting National Commissioner Puleng Dimpane has confirmed that necessary resources have been deployed to affected areas in the Western Cape to intensify operations to restore and maintain law and order.

This comes as a wave of deadly violence hits Mossel Bay and Kleinmond.

Dimpane said they are actively investigating all criminal acts related to these incidents, and that the responsible will be identified, arrested, and brought before the courts.

She was speaking during a press briefing in Mossel Bay on Wednesday.

Two Mozambican nationals were killed in the coastal towns. And an 18-year-old South African also died over the weekend.

About 55 shacks were set alight, allegedly by a group of people protesting against undocumented foreign nationals.

" I urge everyone in the country to respect the laws of this country and If you choose to march, do so peacefully, lawfully and with respect for the rights of others," Dimpane said

Dimpane warned that violence is not the answer.

No grievance, frustration or disagreement can ever justify violence, intimidation, destruction of property, or the taking of human life,” she said.
