Ntsiki Mazwai enters Joburg mayoral race as Land Party candidate

JOHANNESBURG - Media personality Ntsiki Mazwai is running for political office.

The poet and podcast host is gunning for the mayoral chain of The City of Gold.

Mazwai has been announced as the mayoral candidate for the Land Party.

She will join a pool of well-known politicians who are hoping to win the race to govern Africa's economic hub after the Local Government Elections.

This includes Helen Zille from the Democratic Alliance, ActionSA's Herman Mashaba, Mlungisi Mabaso from the IFP and Lukhona Mnguni from Rise Mzansi.

Among a few thorny issues currently gripping South Africa, Mazwai touched on the immigration issue.

"As the LAND PARTY, we advocate for 90% local workforce and 10% to foreigners. These are the labour laws we wish to enforce 🙏🏿 Leave the hard work to us and keep your hands clean 💚," she said in a post on social media app X.

"The Land Party is on record as opposing porous borders because they pose a threat to the security of our country and its citizens.

"We will provide business startup support to young entrepreneurs to establish their own small enterprises, with rate-free status for two years until they are fully established.

"We will also reclaim hijacked buildings. The City of Johannesburg will deploy weekly inspectors to inspect businesses that are non-compliant with the City’s policy of 90% locals and 10% foreign nationals."
