JOHANNESBURG - A court decision to block a R54 billion settlement between Eskom and Nersa will be the death of the utility.
That's according to the National Union of Mineworkers.
It says the decision threatens Eskom’s financial stability at a time when the utility is already under severe strain.
The union says says this is all a result of the unbundling of Eskom.
"The problem is if Eskom does not get this tariff increase of R54 billion, Eskom will die. And the death of Eskom will result in everyone in this country suffering from economic issues."
