Opposition parties intend to appeal impeachment committee pause interdict

CAPE TOWN - Umkhonto weSizwe Party and United Africans Transformation have filed an urgent appeal after the Western Cape High Court threw out their challenge against President Cyril Ramaphosa and Parliament’s impeachment process.

The application was filed in the Western Cape High Court after the Constitutional Court refused the parties direct leave to appeal.

They said that decision was based on reasons unrelated to the merits of their case.

The parties are seeking leave to appeal the full bench judgment delivered last month.

They argued the court made several errors in dismissing their case and that another court could reach a different conclusion.

The matter is due to be heard on Friday
