Opposition parties reach coalition deal

JOHANNESBURG - The Multi-Party Charter for South Africa has confirmed a pre-election coalition partnership.

This was after a two-day gathering of seven parties in Kempton Park.

The coalition bloc is aiming to unseat the ANC from power in next year's general elections.

"The parties have agreed and have signed up after very robust negotiations that they agreed on a multi-party charter for South Africa," said William Gumede, Convention Independent Chairperson.

"We can formally announce a pre-election coalition partnership.

"It's a historical moment for South Africa."
