JOHANNESBURG - The recent killings of e-hailing drivers have sparked outrage, with protests erupting and minibus taxis set on fire.

Tensions came to a head last week at Maponya Mall in Soweto, where two e-hailing vehicles were shot at and torched, leaving one driver dead and another seriously injured.

A passer-by was also hurt, prompting hundreds of residents to protest and demand an end to the conflict between taxi operators and e-hailing drivers.

#NotInMyName International has condemned the violence, calling it an attack on life, safety, and economic freedom.

Secretary-General Themba Masango discussed this with eNCA.
