Palm Ridge residents protest lack of services

JOHANNESBURG - There’s a service delivery storm brewing in Palm Ridge.

Residents say they’re tired of broken promises and even more tired of broken infrastructure.

Last month, they handed over a memorandum to the City of Ekurhuleni and were promised feedback within seven days.

But nearly three weeks later, there’s been no response.

Now, frustrated and feeling ignored, residents are threatening to shut down roads to force authorities to act.

"Our municipality is saying nothing. We submitted a memorandum with all the issues that we wanted the municipality to address," said Phakela Maitse from the local community forum.

"We resort to this demonstration because they're not responding."
