Pappas labels Ndlovu killing a "hit"
UMNGENI - Umngeni Mayor Chris Pappas, says the murder of DA chief whip, Nhlalayenza Ndlovu was not a robbery.
Ndlovu was killed in front of his family last week.
Nhlalayenza’s murder is but one of many political killings in KwaZulu-Natal.
He said, "it hit the municipality quite hard especially the individual that was involved."
"A quiet met. He was a peaceful man, a community man. As much as he was the chief whip he wasn't a political politician"
"We're talking about a small rural municipality in KZN. He wasn't a man who influences selection panels or tenders."
"It definitely was not a robbery, nothing was stolen. It was very intentional."
"I think there are a number of reasons that could be linked to Nhlalayenza's death. Some of them related to politics, some of them related to power, resources and battles with traditional leadership [and] money."
"Not necessarily him but having influence over those things."
Pappas said political killings are a very complex problem for the province.
