Minister Patricia de Lille says the Development of Bank of Southern Africa will be responsible for completing the restoration.

De Lille also says that Parliament will be accountable to South Africans for the project.

She said, "the report that we had presented to Parliament on the 27 May from Coega they have estimated and projected a R2.2 billion spend. 18 months repair for the Old Assembly and two years for the new wing."

"But the development bank of Southern Africa has been able to truncate the timelines. They will start with Old Assembly to make that usable while work continues on new wing. Secretary of Parliament and presiding officers will now have oversight over DBSA."
