JOHANNESBURG - A FlySafair flight from Joburg to Cape Town took an unexpected mid-air detour, and it wasn’t due to turbulence.
A passenger’s meltdown over a bottle of water and incorrect change sparked chaos in the cabin.
It forced the flight to be diverted to Bloemfontein.
Some passengers with security experience and a quick-thinking crew managed to restrain the disruptive traveller.
FlySafair's Kirby Gordon says the passenger has been 'no-fly list' and says he is liable for the costs of diversion and have been sent an invoice.
Gordon says there is a possibility of criminal charges being leveled against the passenger.
