JOHANNESBURG - A self-proclaimed pastor and one of his wives have abandoned their attempts to secure bail.
Caiphus Mkhawane and his two wives face charges related to the murder of a four-month-old infant and the rape of her mother.
They have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, murder, rape, kidnapping, human trafficking and fraud.
The attack has been linked to an attempt to cash in on a funeral insurance payout.
The third co-accused is still applying for bail.
The matter returns to court on 23 October
