JOHANNESBURG - The police captain accused of raping a trainee returned to the Pretoria Magistrate's Court for his bail bid.
The 59-year-old officer is accused of raping the 20-year-old in his office at the Tshwane Training Academy.
In his bail application, the veteran officer claims the case is an attempt to humiliate him.
He also says he should be released on medical grounds.
However, a second complainant has since come forward, laying an additional charge of sexual assault.
In a written parliamentary response, minister Senzo Mchunu confirmed just over 2000 officers had been dismissed for misconduct over five years, including for sexual violence.
