Police bosses to amend gang wars response

CAPE TOWN - It’s day two of the 27th Interpol African Regional Conference in Cape Town.

Transnational crime is high on the agenda, with national police commissioner Fannie Masemola saying it’s evolving at an alarming rate.

According to the United Nations these crimes including money laundering, the illegal trade in firearms, and trafficking in humans, organs, drugs are a multi-billion-dollar industry that operates across borders to exploit vulnerable people and undermine global security.

At the same breathe, Masemola warned of gang violence that continue to dominate various communities. 

He says efforts to deal with gangs are in place.

Police chiefs and security experts are discussing solutions to organised crime, terrorism, and other emerging security threats.
