Police seize mandrax worth R15m in one week

CAPE TOWN - A 58-year-old Cape Town woman made a brief appearance in Wynberg Magistrate's Court.

That’s after police found 69 bags of mandrax tablets, each containing 1,000 units, in a building she occupied.

The estimated street value is R5.5 million.

Shireen Francis of Grassy Park has been remanded in custody for a week pending a bail hearing.

Minutes earlier, two men and a woman ranging in  age from 41 to 61 also appeared in the same court on drug charges.

They were arrested last week after the Hawks seized over 170,000 mandrax tablets valued at over R10 million in Hout Bay.
