Poor financial management directly affects service delivery - MEC Dunga

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Finance MEC Nkululeko Dunga said the province's municipal audit outcomes for the period 2024/25 financial year have worsened.

Only two of the province's eleven municipalities achieved clean audits.

He said poor financial management is directly affecting service delivery.

“Gauteng has 11 municipalities, three metropolitan municipalities, two district municipalities and six local municipalities.

“Overall, the audit outcomes of our province are regressed in 2024-2025. Six of the 11 municipalities received unqualified audit opinions with findings, two received clean audit findings with no findings at all and three received qualified audit opinions.

“We must commend Midvaal Local Municipality and the West Rand District Municipality, which sustained clean audit opinions for 13 and 2 consecutive years, respectively. Proof that clean governance is possible in this province when leadership commits to it,” Dunga said.
