JOHANNESBURG - Families and communities sometimes normalise the crime of men having sex with underage minors.

Government is inviting the public to provide input on addressing statutory rape.

The Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities is facilitating public hearings.

The aim is to determine the necessary measures to enforce mandatory reporting of statutory rape.

The hearings got underway this weekend in Gauteng and the Committee is in the Eastern Cape this week.
