KUGOMPO CITY - Ongoing power cuts are putting the lives of vulnerable Padkamp residents at risk.
Ester Gerber's husband relies on an oxygen machine that needs electricity, while another resident had to move in with her son because she also needs oxygen.
The Buffalo City Metro has cut off electricity for the people living in this government housing community because Public Works owes the municipality.
Gerber said her sick husband needs electricity.
“As you can see, he's very, very sick. We are depending on electricity for his oxygen. Our doctor did apply to vital air for to get oxygen without being able to use electricity. But since up to now, we haven't heard anything.
“This is a very big concern to me because he's not the only one. There's also another lady. And she had to move in the second week, she had move to her son because she's also on oxygen. So, and I just feel it's not fair.
“Public Works came about a year ago and they told us that they are going to put in meters, but we are going be connected to BCM,” she said.
