Prosecution: Chief Albert Luthuli was murdered

PIETERMARITZBURG - Former ANC President-General Chief Albert Luthuli was murdered.

So argued the prosecution in its final submission at the inquest into his 1967 death.

Wrapping up in the High Court in Pietermaritzburg, prosecutors rejected the apartheid regime’s claim that Luthuli died in a train accident.

Instead, they pointed to expert testimony revealing a calculated plot: Luthuli was surveilled, killed, and the truth covered up by state actors and institutions.
