JOHANNESBURG - Civil society organisation Public Interest SA has referred the head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption to the Legal Practice Council and called for her suspension.
The organisation said evidence before the Commission raises serious questions about Johnson's fitness to hold office and the integrity of ongoing investigations.
Public Interest SA points in particular to the handling of the case against former SAPS Brigadier Dineo Mokwele.

It has argued that testimony before the Commission suggests there may have been no reasonable basis for the charges pursued against her.
The organisation said that if criminal proceedings were pursued without sufficient evidence, it would amount to a grave abuse of prosecutorial and investigative powers.
Public Interest SA further argued the allegations emerging from the inquiry raise concerns about possible political interference, abuse of authority and the weaponisation of law enforcement institutions.
