PRETORIA - The Madlanga Commission has questioned businessman Tumelo Nku on why he was carrying R60 000 in cash at the scene of the Aeroton drug bust.
The bust involved the seizure of 715kg of cocaine in Johannesburg in 2021.
It was later revealed in the Commission that 136kg, worth R55 million, of the 715kg of cocaine disappeared from police storage.
Evidence at the Commission revealed that Nku allegedly tipped off now-suspended Gauteng Traffic Police Inspector Samuel Mashaba.

At the scene, Nku was found with cash amounting to R60 000 when he was arrested.
During his testimony, Nku revealed that the money was petty cash, which he used for his traveling activity.
This raised eyebrows in the Commission.
