R800,000 cocaine haul lands man in custody at OR Tambo

JOHANNESBURG - A 45-year-old man has been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport after police allegedly found cocaine worth more than R800,000 in his luggage.

The man was arrested on Monday while allegedly preparing to travel to Hong Kong.

Police said the arrest followed an intelligence-led operation during which officers searched the suspect’s luggage and allegedly discovered the drugs concealed inside.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court, where he will face charges related to drug trafficking.

The investigation into the alleged smuggling operation is continuing.
