Race against time to stop a full-scale taxi war breaking out

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape authorities are racing against time to stop a full-scale taxi war from breaking out.

Two taxi drivers were recently gunned down at the Macassar Taxi Rank.

Several bystanders were also injured.

Western Cape authorities have suspended traffic on certain routes, as they say negotiations to resolve the problem between rival taxi associations Cata and Codeta have broken down, which has led to the current violence.

No arrests have been made yet, as police investigate two murder and two attempted murder cases.
