The opposition party has tabled a motion to establish the committee to probe agencies such as the reserve bank and security cluster.

The party claims these, and other agencies, were part of a cover-up operation.

DA Chief Whip Siviwe Gwarube said, "while the section 89 inquiry is a process to be established and it will determine whether impeachment process should be instituted against the president, it does not mean we should not investigating institution implicated in this saga. State Security,  SAPS, the Department of International Relations, various minister in the security cluster have a case to answer for."

"Various institutions such SARS, the Reserve Bank need to enlighten the public about what they know. And none of this questions can be answered in a section 89 inquiry. These matters can only be responded to through an ad hoc committee that will have powers to summon all these institutions”
