Ramaphosa's SONA proved unity in GNU, but real test will be local elections - Expert

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa's State of the Nation Address is proof of collaboration, including inputs from other Government of National Unity ministers coming from opposition parties.

This is according to leadership expert Professor Mazwe Majola, as he broke down the 2026 speech.

Majola said Ramaphosa, through his speech, was able to strike a balance, proving unity with the GNU.

"You can see that they are working together, and that's what we wanted."

However, Majola said the real test will be ahead of the local elections when campaigning starts.

This is because it's going to be difficult for ministers and cabinet members to work together to also be opposition leaders.

"When they go outside to campaign, they'll be criticising each other,"
