RATANDA - Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said water will flow once again in Ratanda.
Residents took to the streets this week to protest over the ongoing water crisis in the Lesedi Local Municipality.
Protests turned violent, leaving two dead and the mayor's house torched.
“We're not responding to it on the basis that people have touched the house of the executive mayor. We've been trying to attend to it, to balance the revenue that is expected and the expenditure that needs to be paid.
“Nevertheless, we've arrived at the resolution that, indeed, Rand Water will give the municipality a two-week grace period to receive the grant that they're expecting. And during that period, while they're waiting for that grant, Rand Water will then suspend its restrictions on water.
“And probably, as I'm speaking to you now, water is flowing back in that community."
