JOHANNESBURG - The ANC will launch its local government election manifesto on15 August.
ANC Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula, says it's preparing to defend its position in the November polls.
Mbalula was speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday
He said the manifesto launch will pave the way for ‘real campaigning’ to begin.
“It's not a statement of arrogance; it's because the ANC is governing, and therefore everybody looks at the ANC.”
Mbalula added that political parties have already started rolling up their sleeves in preparation for the local elections set for November 2026.
“We declare now that we will launch our campaign on the 15th of August, which is a week from now, and we're not going to a stadium; we are going to a RiverPark, Diepsloot."
With less than four months left to the local elections, the ANC is yet to unveil the candidates it hopes will keep control of the country’s biggest metros.
