Record 11.1 million tourists visit Western Cape in 2025

CAPE TOWN - A record 11.1 million tourists visited the Western Cape in 2025, the latest Cape Town Air Access figures show.

According to the figures, Cape Town International Airport processed more than 11.1 million two-way passengers in a single year.

The air-route development project said international travel in the province saw a 7% year-on-year growth, while domestic travel also increased by 7%, reaching 7.8 million passengers.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Democratic Alliance said the figures secure the Western Cape’s growing share of national tourism.

“Growth has not been limited to Cape Town alone. George Airport recorded its strongest year on record, handling more than 911 000 passengers in 2025, reinforcing the importance of regional airports in spreading tourism benefits across the province,” the party said.

Noko Masipa, DA Western Capes spokesperson on Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism said: “These record-breaking figures confirm that the Western Cape remains South Africa’s most attractive and competitive tourism destination.”
