Restaurant raids | Sandton food spots in a pickle as more workers detained
JOHANNESBURG - Being in the richest square mile in Africa hasn’t exempted some restaurants from exploiting workers and breaking employment regulations.
This was the finding of the Department of Employment and Labour as they went on more blitzes in the hospitality sector.
This week’s round of action was prompted by a social media video detailing working conditions at a Pretoria establishment.
Among the transgressions are non-compliance with the unemployment insurance act and occupational health and safety irregularities.
