JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng government says it will provide relief to people who are unable to pay for electricity.
Premier Panyaza Lesufi was speaking in Dobsonville in Soweto about his Energy Response Plan.
But he issued a stern warning for those hiding behind people who can't afford to pay.
He says government will now register impoverished residents.
The plan also includes strategies to manage debt and cut off illegal connections.
It comes as the provincial government launches the Transformer Replacement Programme.
This will reconnect communities that have been without electricity for some time.
