SAA-Takatso deal | DPE committee chair stands by calls for probe into deal

JOHANNESBURG - The SAA-Takatso deal may have crash-landed, but it still needs to be probed.

Public Enterprises Portfolio Committee Chair Khaya Magaxa wants the SIU to investigate it.

But the department says he's on a crusade to accuse and convict Minister Pravin Gordhan.

Magaxa says there are legitimate concerns the deal was not above board.

He says claims of impropriety by former DG Kgathatso Tlhakudi must be investigated.

Public Enterprises is accusing Magaxa of sidestepping its legal advisor who found no misconduct in the deal.

But the chairman says he wants Gordhan to answer for himself, not through a third party.
