SACP calls for Masemola reinstatement

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Communist Party (SACP) is calling for the immediate reinstatement of General Fannie Masemola as National Police Commissioner. 

This follows the withdrawal of four Public Finance Management Act charges against Masemola by the National Prosecuting Authority.

The NPA says a review found there were no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution.

Masemola was accused of failing to provide oversight in the multi-million rand health contract involving alleged underworld kingpin Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala.

The SACP also wants an overhaul of the criminal justice system.
