Mapaila says their concerns often fall on deaf ears while criminals control what happens, who is appointed, and even meddle in tender processes.

He was addressing Cosatu's 14th national congress earlier.

He said, "the working class has to contest the ANC…Today the working class just enter the ANC for debates, raise issues…"

"Its issues are sometimes ignored but criminals are now contesting the ANC. How can criminals be better than revolutionaries."

"They contest the ANC, their views are here in policy framework, in tender systems, they control leaders, they fund leaders to contest positions in the movement to come and lead the national democratic revolution. This cannot be allowed to go on any more."

"The working class has to stand up. As we do this and contest the ANC, we should not be sucked into ANC factions."
