JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg’s rubbish problems are piling up again.
Just weeks after emerging from a prolonged waste collection crisis, Pikitup has once again failed to collect refuse in several parts of the city.
This time, contractual disputes and grounded trucks are being blamed.
While Pikitup insists the problems have been resolved, residents have said they’re tired of paying for a service they aren’t receiving.
Pikitup said the backlog will be cleared by the end of the weekend.
But residents have heard these promises before and until Johannesburg finds a lasting solution to its waste collection woes, this is one crisis that simply refuses to be binned.
