Tensions flared while MK Party MP, Sibonelo Nomvalo, questioned National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola about his reporting lines.

ANC member Xola Nqola's attempt at clarifying parts of Masemola's testimony sparked an exchange ending in intervention from the committee chairperson.

Ad-hoc committee chairperson Soviet Lekganyane asked MPs to apologise to the South African public for the exchange.

"My measured tone could have drowned by the fist fight of your voices," Lekganyane said, while chastising the pair.

Both MPs apologised for the interaction.
