CAPE TOWN - National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has deployed top investigators to Cape Town.
Serious and Violent Crime Officers will probe the attack on 3 Members of Parliament in PhiIippi.
Police Committee chairperson, Ian Cameron, and MPs, Lisa-Maré Schickerling and Nicholas Gotsell, were attacked.
They had just left the SAPS training college when men armed with bricks surrounded their vehicle.
An 18-year-old has been arrested and is under police guard in hospital after he was injured in the attack.
Schickerling says the men shattered several of the car’s windows.
They managed to get away and drive to a nearby petrol station.
Gotsell suffered a laceration to the head, while Cameron's lip and chin were injured.
Schicklerling was hit with a brick on the back of the head.
