SA's Corruption Emergency | Home Affairs director dismissed

JOHANNESBURG - The Home Affairs director who facilitated the processing of permits for Gupta associate Ashu Chawla and others in Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates has been dismissed.

Major Kobese, the Director for Appeals, has been found guilty of three counts of gross misconduct in the execution of his duties.

His disciplinary hearing lasted five months. Home Affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi says the outcome of the hearing shows that all forms of corruption, malfeasance, and irregularities found in the department are being rooted out.
