SA’s education crisis | Wits students intensify protest

Wits University students continue their protest against financial exclusion and lack of accommodation.

JOHANNESBURG - Wits University students have taken to the streets of Braamfontein.

The students were protesting what they allege is a lack of adequate support from the university for unhoused students and those with outstanding fees.

Students have served the institution with a notice, demanding that all students owing R150,000 or less be allowed to register for the 2023 academic year.

Wits SRC's Vuyiswa Mochochoko says these students are all academically deserving to be part of the institution.
