SA’s water crisis | Action plan for Vaal River contamination

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Water and Sanitation Department has established an anti-pollution Forum to deal with the Vaal River pollution crisis. 

It's one of the key decisions taken during Minister Senzo Mchunu 's engagements with Municipalities in the Free State and Gauteng that have been discharging wastewater into the Vaal River.

The meeting comes against the backdrop of a summit that was held early this year in response to Green Drop Progress.

Since 2023, the Vaal River has been overwhelmed with invasive aquatic species.
