SA's water crisis | Interruptions impact Gauteng healthcare services

JOHANNESBURG - Families of patients at three Gauteng hospitals have been taking water and food to their loved ones.

That's after the facilities have had no water for over a week.

Gauteng Health will visit the hospitals on Wednesday morning.

Rahima Moosa and Helen Joseph hospitals in Johannesburg and Pholosong in Ekurhuleni are affected.

On Tuesday, the department said the situation has been stabilised, but it's still monitoring the facilities.

It blames the interruptions on challenges experienced by Rand Water and Joburg Water.

It says while the facilities have reservoirs, the systems get strained when interruptions are prolonged.

Water tankers have also had to move in to affected areas to help.
