Hospitals are finding it hard to cope with Johannesburg's ongoing water shortages.

JOHANNESBURG - Hospitals are finding it hard to cope with Johannesburg's ongoing water shortages.

Two major Johannesburg hospitals, Helen Joseph and Rahima Moosa Mother and Child hospital have been without stable water supply for weeks.

Human rights activist Mark Heywood says this is a disaster.

He says cleaners at the Helen Joseph Hospital are forced to clean faeces off the floor because of blocked toilets.

“The consequences are difficult to spell out. I know doctors who have medical conditions because of this," he said.

"Morale among workers is very low, even the cleaners. Reports suggest that people have clean to faeces at Helen Joseph."
