Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu says Gauteng water systems are fine.

This is despite many areas running dry for days and even weeks.

He also allayed fears of more water shortages due to planned maintenance of the Lesotho Highlands Tunnel.

"Gauteng will have water, currently, we have the Vaal River dam which is full," he said.

"The maintenance that is coming in October is required and we'll monitor water levels on a daily basis to see what happens to the Vaal Dam which feeds the whole of Gauteng."
