Officials have sent water tankers to the area as a temporary relief measure but residents say this is not enough.
Nelson Mandela Bay water distribution director Joseph Tsatsire admits that the Metro still faces water challenges.
"We are still in a crisis point, currently our dam levels are sitting just above 16.5 percent, which means that we don't have adequate water in our dam levels," he said.
Tsatsire is urging residents to use water sparingly.
