Sassa grant recipient? Here’s how much more you’ll get

CAPE TOWN - Millions of South Africans who rely on social grants will see an increase in April 2026. 

This comes as the national treasury set aside R 292.8 billion for grants in the 2026/2027 financial year. 

This was revealed by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana as he tabled the 2026 Budget on Wednesday. 

Here’s how much more beneficiaries will get: 

Old age grant                    Increases by R80 to R2400
Disability grant  Increases by R80 to R2400
Care dependency grant   Increases by R80 to R2400
War veterans grant   Increases by R80 to R2420

Families caring for children will also see similar increases:

Foster care grant                                                                           Increases by R40 in April to R1 290 and again a R10 increase in October to R1 300
Child support grant  Increases by R20 to R580
Grant-in-aid grant   Increases by R20 to R580

Unfortunately, those getting Social Relief of Distress grant (SRD) will not witness any increases. 

Godongwana announced that the amount will stay unchanged at R370 over the year ahead.
