CAPE TOWN - Millions of South Africans who rely on social grants will see an increase in April 2026.
This comes as the national treasury set aside R 292.8 billion for grants in the 2026/2027 financial year.
This was revealed by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana as he tabled the 2026 Budget on Wednesday.
Here’s how much more beneficiaries will get:
| Old age grant | Increases by R80 to R2400 |
| Disability grant | Increases by R80 to R2400 |
| Care dependency grant | Increases by R80 to R2400 |
| War veterans grant | Increases by R80 to R2420 |
Families caring for children will also see similar increases:
| Foster care grant | Increases by R40 in April to R1 290 and again a R10 increase in October to R1 300 |
| Child support grant | Increases by R20 to R580 |
| Grant-in-aid grant | Increases by R20 to R580 |
Unfortunately, those getting Social Relief of Distress grant (SRD) will not witness any increases.
Godongwana announced that the amount will stay unchanged at R370 over the year ahead.
