Sentencing delayed for Amber Lee Hughes due to judge’s absence

JOHANNESBURG - The sentencing of Amber Lee Hughes has been postponed due to the unavailability of the presiding officer,  Judge Richard Mkhabela.

Hughes confessed to drowning her then-lover's four-year-old daughter in 2023.

The former pre-school teacher denied the rape charge.

She was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, with her mental health struggles placed on record.
